Prior to his attendance in the much-awaited culmination of the MassKara Festival 2022, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited Talisay City in Negros Occidental to lead the distribution of government assistance to agriculture and social welfare beneficiaries to help alleviate their financial burden.

“Pagka ako’y umiikot at pumupunta sa iba’t ibang lugar, tinitiyak ko na ‘yung inaasahang tulong – na inyong inaasahang tulong na galing sa gobyerno ay tuloy-tuloy ang parating sa taong bayan,” the President remarked in his message, stating that his visit aims to ensure a proper and organized distribution of necessary aid to the underprivileged.

Citing the increase of basic commodities worldwide due to global inflation, the President assured his ‘kababayans’ that his Administration would exert all efforts to mitigate its effects, and is always ready to lend its assistance if necessary.

“Kaya’t habang nangangailangan ang taong bayan ng tulong, gagawin ng gobyerno lahat para kahit papaano ay makatulong,” he said.

Beneficiaries from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) received PhP5,000 – PhP10,000 under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

The AICS is a social safety net or a stop-gap mechanism to support the recovery of individuals and families from unexpected crisis such as illness or death of a family member, and other crisis situations.

On the other hand, six (6) farmer organizations received mock checks amounting to PhP88 million from the Department of Agriculture (DA) under the Philippine Rural Development Project – a project to establish a modern and climate-resilient agriculture and fisheries sector through building of key infrastructures, facility and technology.

“Sa ngayon, tinitiyak lang natin na sapat ang dumadating sa taong bayan. Hindi lamang asukal, pati na ang lahat ng produkto ng agrikultura, para naman ay kahit papaano ay masasabi natin ay may sapat naman na food supply na kayang bayaran ng ating mga mamamayan,” President Marcos Jr. stated.

Aside from financial assistance, 100 farmers received palay seeds, one (1) unit of corn mill and three (3) units of incubator.
