President Rodrigo Roa Duterte paid a visit to the Municipality of Agoncillo where he led the distribution of assistance to families displaced by the Taal Volcano eruption and currently relocated at the Agoncillo Central School in Batangas.

Based on the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Evacuation Center Information Board posted onsite, around 100 families are taking shelter in the Agoncillo Central School.

After recording a series of phreatomagmatic eruptions in the last week of March and a number of earthquakes in the past 24 hours (per latest summary issued for the period 3 April 2022 at 5:00 AM PST – 4 April 2022 at 5:00 AM PST), the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) maintained the active volcano status under Alert Level 3.

With the latest advisory, the PHIVOLCS also recommended the prohibition of entry to the Municipality of Agoncillo, which was among the identified high-risk barangays along with the Municipality of Laurel.
