Malacañan Palace
March 6, 2018

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte hosted a dinner for 187 former New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Malacañan Palace.
In his message to the rebel returnees, President Duterte vowed that the government would provide them with social economic reforms like shelter, jobs, livelihood, and education for their children.

The Commander-in-Chief mentioned that despite their membership in the communist army and fighting the government for the past 50 years, there has been no improvement in the lives of the rebels.

He also urged them to obtain training in order to land a job as skilled workers for the government’s programs and infrastructure projects nationwide.

The former rebels were flown to Manila yesterday from Davao City and Butuan City. Aside from visiting Malacañan Palace, they were given a historical and heritage tour in Luneta Park and Intramuros in the City of Manila that was facilitated by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
