President Rodrigo Roa Duterte delivered his speech before departing from the Davao International Airport to Qionghai Bo’ao International Airport in Hainan Province, People’s Republic of China (PRC).
The Chief Executive was set to participate in the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2018. The forum, carrying the theme, “An Open and Innovative Asia for a World of Greater Prosperity,” is being held at Boao in Hainan Province from April 8-11, 2018.
The Boao Forum for Asia is a non-governmental and non-profit international organization that is “dedicated to promoting Asian countries to achieve common development through further integration of regional economy.”
In his speech, President Duterte assured that his participation to the Forum shall advance the country’s interests in trade expansion and investments promotion.
“I will highlight the results of our government’s efforts to make businesses grow through improved peace and order situation, sustained campaign to battle corruption, and strengthened the policy framework for businesses to thrive,” President Duterte said.
President Duterte was also set to meet President Xi Jinping in a bilateral meeting to discuss further the Philippines-Chinese relations.
After President Duterte’s participation in the Boao Forum, he was scheduled to meet the Filipino community in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR).
“I welcome the opportunity to meet our kababayans, report to them the developments at home and listen to their concerns and hopes,” President Duterte emphasized.
