President Rodrigo Roa Duterte vowed to make the life of all Filipinos comfortable as he graced the 84th anniversary celebration of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Malolos City, Bulacan.
“As I have always been telling you, I could never promise you to be very happy. But what I can assure you during my term… pagbigyan na ninyo, konting panahon lang naman ‘yan, is I want everybody, every Filipino comfortable in his country. ‘Yan lang po. Maliit na bagay lang ‘yan. Wala naman akong hiningi na malaki,” the President said in his speech.
He mentioned that he would give emphasis in improving the agricultural sector as part of the administration’s efforts in boosting the economy of the country. He also reiterated that he would implement his campaign promises of eradicating corruption in the government, the illegal drug operations, and the threats of terrorism.
No corruption, talagang droga, hindi ko tatanggapin ‘yan,” President Duterte said.
“I promised that. No corruption. Talagang gagawin ko ‘yan… ke mawalaan ako ng trabaho pagka-Presidente, mamatay ako… wala ako pakialam. Basta ang malaman ko, I promised the Filipino people during the campaign and I will do it whether you like it or not. Pasensiya ka,” he added.
During the program, the DOLE, together with President Duterte, handed out livelihood project assistance funds to different local government units (LGUs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
The President also performed his favorite song, ‘Ikaw,’ in a duet with a local singer named Jonalyn Viray.
