President Benigno S. Aquino III welcomed executives of Save the Children International led by its CEO Jasmine Whitbread in Malacañang.
Whitbread, together with Save the Children Japan CEO Kunio Senga and Country Director Edward Olney, called on President Aquino after months of relief and rehabilitation operations in typhoon-devastated provinces in Eastern Visayas.
Save the Children, an international aid organization for children, is one of those who responded immediately even before Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) hit the country. Its members have conducted several rehabilitation and recovery programs, specifically to help children overcome trauma brought by the devastation. They are also currently involved in a back-to-school program to help ensure speedy recovery for the children with the local government.
Also present during the call were Social Welfare and Development Undersecretary Parisya H. Taradji and presidential sister Aurora Corazon “Pinky” Aquino.
