President Rodrigo Roa Duterte welcomed different Japanese investors based in the country in a courtesy call in Malacañang, including the famous Japanese visual artist Ayumi Endo who went viral because of her artworks that displayed support for the President during the election period this year.
In his statement, President Duterte acknowledged the appreciation shown by Endo, saying this is a clear example of the strong bond between the Philippines and Japan. He also expressed his gratitude for the continuous aid that Japan has been providing to the country throughout the years, and emphasized the long-standing friendship of the two countries.
Likewise, President Duterte mentioned his upcoming trip to Japan that aims to discuss matters that would further strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations. He would be tackling matters on trade and commerce, the disputed islands in the West Philippine Sea, military equipment, transportation, etc.
