President Benigno S. Aquino III received in Malacanang Ruchir Sharma, head of the Global Emerging Markets Equity Team at Morgan Stanley Investment Management Inc. in New York.

Also present during the call were Muniz Madni, Managing Director of Morgan Stanley (Singapore), Noel Bautista of Deutsch Regis Partnership, Inc., Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Secretary Ricky Carandang of the Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office and Trade Undersecretary and Board of Investments chief Crisanto Panlilio.

Mr. Sharma is also a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley Investment Management Limited and a Portfolio Manager at Van Kampen Asset Management. He joined the firm in October 1996 and was named Co-head of the team in 2003 and Head in 2006. He is responsible for overall portfolio performance and construction and has day-to-day responsibilities of both the Thai and Malaysian funds. Prior to joining the firm, he was employed at Prime Securities (Delhi), where he helped run the firm’s foreign exchange business. He also writes for Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal and The Economic Times.
