President Benigno S. Aquino III welcomed Mr. Akihiko Tanaka, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in a courtesy call in Malacañang.

JICA aims to contribute to the promotion of international cooperation as well as the sound development of Japanese and global economy by supporting the socio-economic development, recovery or economic stability of developing regions.

Also present in the call were Finance (DOF) Secretary Cesar Purisima, Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Albert Del Rosario, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Director-General and Socio-Economic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio Singson, and Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) Secretary Teresita Quintos-Deles.

Mr. Tanaka was accompanied by H.E. Kazuhide Ishikawa, Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines.
