President Benigno S.Aquino III received from President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono the “Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna” award, the highest honor given by the government of Indonesia to a foreign national. The honor was given in recognition of the great contribution of President Aquino in strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields and also for his commitment in promoting the bilateral relations of Indonesia and the Philippines that has help open new opportunities for both countries.

In his remarks, President Aquino said that it humbles him to receive the highest honor given by Indonesia and he is grateful to President Yudhoyono and to the people of Indonesia.

President Aquino also highlighted in his speech the similarities between the two countries like the language, history and culture that lead to the solid and enduring friendship between the two nations. He also assured President Yudhoyono that the Philippines remains fully committed in enhancing the cooperation and the deepening of friendship with neighboring countries.

Before ending his speech, the President invited President Yudhoyono to visit the Philippines after his term in office.
