Secretary Robert Borje of the Climate Change Commission joins the delegates from participating United Nations (UN) Member States for the Closing Session of the Stockholm+50 in Stockholm, Sweden on 3 June 2022.

In his plenary speech during the course of the two-day High Level Meeting, Secretary Borje urged the UN Member States, system and stakeholders to undertake climate change action based on climate justice, and emphasized that ‘those most responsible for climate change need to do more’ for developing nations rendered more vulnerable and at risk due to climate change impacts.

He also underscored the need for a paradigm shift in building resiliency, sustainable development and disaster risk and crisis management, going beyond ‘Build, Back, Better’ to ‘Build Right at First Sight,’ noting that resources have become more limited.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte designated Secretary Robert Borje as Head of the Philippine Delegation and his personal representative to the Stockholm+50. Joining the Philippine delegation are Her Excellency Maria Lumen Isleta, the Philippine Ambassador to Sweden, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Undersecretary Mercedita Sombilla, Minister Leila Lora-Santos, Philippine Mission to the UN in New York, Deputy Permanent Representative Maria Rossana Josue, Philippine Embassy in Nairobi, and representatives from the Department of Finance (DOF) and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
