President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. joined his fellow Leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), its Dialogue Partners, ASEAN officials, as well as other invited guests, for the closing ceremony of the 43rd ASEAN Summit and Related Summits at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) in Jakarta, Indonesia on 7 September 2023.

The 43rd ASEAN Summit and Related Summits concluded with over 90 outcome documents, which were either issued, adopted, or noted. These include the following documents:

• ASEAN leaders’ declaration on strengthening food security and nutrition in response to crises
• Individual joint statements on strengthening cooperation on food security between ASEAN, Australia, Canada, and India.
• ASEAN Guidelines on the Protection of Migrant Workers and Family Members in Crisis Situations.
• ASEAN leaders’ statements on the development of the digital economy framework agreement.
• ASEAN Joint Statement on Climate Change for the 28th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Concluding the 43rd ASEAN Summit, President Joko Widodo of Indonesia officially handed over the ASEAN Chairmanship to Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR).
