President Rodrigo Roa Duterte lauded the strong cooperation between both Houses of Congress and the administration in providing the Filipino people with equitable and sustainable services as he inked 16 legislative bills into laws at the Malacañan Palace.

Thirteen (13) of these laws covered health-related needs of the public which include the establishment of new public hospitals and an increase in bed capacities of existing hospitals. According to President Duterte, this is very crucial in strengthening the capacity of the health care system as the nation continues to overcome the effects of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

In his message, the President assured his ‘kababayans’, especially medical frontliners, that his administration will work hand-in-hand with Congress in equipping them with proper and functional medical supplies and logistics.

“I am therefore directing all our government agencies to continue to work together in implementing the newly enacted and existing Health Care Law, and at the same time, apply the whole-of-nation approach in our endeavors to ensure an inclusive and seamless response to the current challenges facing the nation,” he said.

Likewise, he called on the Filipino people to continue cooperating with the government towards a more harmonious, organized and progressive society supported by responsible law-abiding citizens.

“I am more hopeful, with our concerted efforts, we will reach our shared aspirations for a healthy and productive nation,” the President expressed.

Prior to his speech, President Duterte offered his sincerest condolences to the Aquino family for the untimely demise of former President Benigno S. Aquino III who succumbed to renal disease secondary to diabetes at the age of 61.
