President Rodrigo Roa Duterte held his first official activity on his two-day visit in Vietnam with a meeting composed of different Philippine business executives and investors at the Sheraton Hotel in Hanoi.
According to Philippine Business Group Vietnam (PBGV) acting chair Winston Mayo, the meeting was an opportunity to convey and thank the President for the support he gives to the business community so that they may be able to get into different ventures and continue to grow in other ASEAN countries like Vietnam.
President Duterte, in return, said that he is proud of how Philippine companies are growing outside the country and he is encouraging to invite other investments to come to the Philippines. He assured the group that if there were any obstruction on projects they would like to pursue, they are free to take it to his office so it could be addressed immediately.
Different sectors like the beverage industry, packaging, pharmaceuticals, utilities and services, were represented during the meeting. These included Ramoncito Gomez (Manila Water Vietnam), Alan Olmilla (San Miguel Yamamura Hai Phong Glass Co. Ltd.), Edison Yu (San Miguel Purefoods), Mhalou Cabotaje (Royal Cargo Vietnam) Rey dela Cruz (United Pharma Inc.-Vietnam), Sebastian Baquiran (United Pharma-Manila), Jean Pierre Gamboa (Universal Robina Corporation Vietnam Co. Ltd.), Crispin Francisco (Universal Robina Corporation), Enrique Gonzales (IP ventures Inc.) and David Thai (Viet Thai Co.)
