Victorino Mapa High School, City of Manila
August 14, 2023
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. donated financial assistance worth one million pesos to the Victorino Mapa High School in the City of Manila, aside from initially providing paint and cleaning materials, in support of the Brigada Eskwela activities in the school during his visit.
The Chief Executive, together with Vice President and concurrent Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Duterte, inspected several classrooms undergoing maintenance works such as painting, washing, cleaning, welding and minor repairs to prepare for the opening of classes on 29 August 2023.
The two leaders also painted some chairs and interacted with the teachers, parents, students and other stakeholders undertaking the maintenance activities while doing the inspection.
In brief remarks, President Marcos Jr. commended the volunteerism of the Victorino Mapa High School stakeholders for supporting their children and students in this year’s Brigada Eskwela.
“Ito siguro ay panibago na rin dahil naglockdown tayo, nakabalik tayo ng konti, pero ito na siguro ang pinaka-unang, ito na yung pinaka-unang pasukan na medyo normal after the lockdown. Pero normal pero marami tayong pinalitan, marami tayong inayos na mga naging reklamo. At yun ang pinagtitiyagaan at pinaghihirapan ng ating DepEd Secretary at saka si Vice President Sara Duterte,” the Chief Executive said.
Anchored in the theme, ‘Bayanihan para sa Matatag na Paaralan,’ Brigada Eskwela 2023 will run for six (6) days until 19 August 2023. It is an annual nationwide school maintenance engaging all education stakeholders to volunteer their time, effort and resources in ensuring that public elementary and secondary schools are prepared for the class opening.
