President Benigno S. Aquino III attended a briefing on the Department of Tourism (DOT) – Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Convergence Program, also known as Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP).
The program aims to upgrade tourism roads, whether national or local, according to national standards. It is in line with the government’s goal of promoting tourism to create more jobs, thus ensuring inclusive growth.
Since 2011, the government has invested a total of Php 60.48 billion for 463 tourism road projects. 111 of these were already completed, 317 are still ongoing, while 35 are either under detailed engineering design or procurement.
In his speech, President Aquino guaranteed that programs like TRIP, which help alleviate the lives of Filipinos, will get the continuous support of the government.
