President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos received a warm welcome from United States Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff in their residence inside the U.S. Naval Observatory before hosting a breakfast.

“I want to thank you because the strength and alliance between the United States and the Philippines is probably stronger than ever. Under your leadership, we have been able to continue doing the work that we have that is a priority…lead to prosperity and security,” Vice President Harris said in her remarks.

For his part, President Marcos Jr. lauded the U.S. Vice President for “laying the groundwork” towards a revitalized and stronger partnership that led to his official visit to the U.S. capital.

“You are our only treaty partner in the world…I’m very, very happy to be here; for this opportunity to speak with you,” the Chief Executive responded before being ushered in the official residence of Vice President Harris.

The two leaders first met in November 2022 when the U.S. Vice President traveled to the Philippines.
