President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. hosted a night of culinary experience and cultural performances in honor of Prime Minister Petr Fiala of the Czech Republic who is currently in the Philippines for a three-day official visit from 16-18 April 2023.

The President conveyed his appreciation towards the visiting leader for the commitment that both of them shared in strengthening ties, as the two nations celebrate their 50th anniversary of bilateral relations this year.

During the dinner at Malacañan Palace, the two leaders witnessed the launching of the book entitled, ‘Kaibigan-Pratele: Czech-Philippine Cultural and Diplomatic Dialogue’, that contains various documentation of the rich history of people-to-people and socio-cultural exchanges between the Philippines and Czech Republic.

“I hope that all the work and effort poured into this publication makes it not only an informative tool for everyone who is interested in the rich history of cultural and diplomatic exchanges between our two countries. But let it serve also as a symbol of the friendship amongst our people,” President Marcos Jr. said.

Prior to the official dinner, the two leaders held an exchange of gifts wherein the President and First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos presented a white cabibe jewelry box and red pen shell box to the Czech Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Fiala is the first Head of Government from Europe who paid an official visit to the country since President Marcos Jr. assumed the Presidency. He is currently on a 10-day business trip to Asia, with the Philippines as his first stop.
