President Rodrigo Roa Duterte held a bilateral meeting with Vietnamese President Trần Đại Quang during his two-day official visit in Vietnam shortly after he and members of the Philippine delegation were formally welcomed in a ceremony at the Presidential Palace grounds.

President Duterte is in Vietnam to further improve areas indicated in the Strategic Partnership Agreement inked by both countries in 2015 – including stronger partnership in economic, agriculture, defense and maritime cooperation.

According to Foreign Affairs Secretary who is among the delegation, the Philippines and Vietnam will pursue bilateral negotiations to see what kind of an agreement can be pursued in the mutual interest of both countries insofar as maritime cooperation is concerned, which also covers maritime environment and health.

The President also gave his invitation to Vietnamese investors to come to the Philippines. He then thanked President Quang for providing a good environment for the Filipino workers and residents in Vietnam.
