President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of Australia held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand.
The meeting reaffirmed the ‘long-standing and stronger connections’ between the Philippines and Australia, where they emphasized good economic and people-to-people relations, according to the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS).
Both Leaders agreed on the positive developments and outcomes during the 29th AELM, wherein Prime Minister Albanese expressed support towards President Marcos Jr.’s call to make climate change a top priority across the Asia-Pacific region.
In his inaugural APEC participation, the Chief Executive discussed important matters with his fellow Economic Leaders. Aside from climate change adaptation initiatives, President Marcos Jr.’s top priorities included food self-sufficiency; Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs); energy security; and COVID-19 pandemic recovery, among others.
