President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and President Xi Jinping discussed developments on relations between the Philippines and the People’s Republic of China as the two Leaders held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) in Bangkok, Thailand.
In its official Facebook page, the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) released that President Marcos Jr. engaged in a productive discussion with President Xi on strengthening relations in various areas of cooperation such as agriculture, energy, infrastructure and people-to-people ties.
The Chief Executive described the meeting as a ‘very pleasant exchange’ wherein the two Leaders tackled regional issues and the upcoming State Visit of the President to China next year.
President Marcos Jr. and President Xi are both participating in the first in-person meeting of the 29th AELM from November 16-19, 2022.
Their engagement marked the Chief Executive’s first bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart since assuming the Presidency.
