“The role of the United States in maintaining peace in our region is something that is much appreciated by all countries in the region, in the Philippines especially,” said President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. when he spoke with President Joseph R. Biden of the United States of America (USA) in a bilateral meeting during his Working Visit to New York.

To recall, then President-elect Marcos Jr. had a telephone conversation with US President Biden on May 11, 2022. According to a Readout posted by The White House online (www.whitehouse.gov), apart from extending his congratulations to the newly elected Filipino Chief Executive, the US President looks forward to working with President Marcos Jr. to continue strengthening the Philippines-US alliance while expanding bilateral cooperation on a wide range of issues such as the fight against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, addressing the climate crisis, promoting broad-based economic growth and respect for human rights.

“We continue to look to the United States for that continuing partnership in the maintenance of peace in our region,” added the President during his brief remarks.

Aside from his bilateral meeting with President Biden, the Philippine Chief Executive has several dialogues with the American business community throughout the duration of his first Working Visit to the USA to forge deeper partnership with the US in the areas of trade and commerce, as well as to advance the country’s economic and sustainable agenda.
