President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the ceremonial awarding of 640 Madayaw Residences units to beneficiaries from various uniformed service units, government agencies and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) at the Kadayawan Homes in Talomo District, Davao City.

“The low-cost housing program is our way of giving back to the country’s hardworking uniformed personnel and civil servantsIbig kong sabihin bumabawi lang rin ang gobyerno sa sakripisyo ninyo,” the Chief Executive said in his speech.

National Housing Authority (NHA) General Manager Marcelino Escalada, Jr. assisted the President in distributing the certificates of award and unit keys to 12 awardees representing the 640 beneficiaries.

The NHA’s accomplishment is part of the government’s “commitment to providing adequate, safe, secure, habitable, sustainable, resilient and affordable homes to the Filipino people,” according to the Chief Executive.

The President further expressed his “hope that the next administration will also continue the things that would make our people happy.”

“Although not all, but [at least the people see], that we are doing something with the money of the people,” President Duterte continued. Senators Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go and Joseph Victor ‘JV’ Ejercito, who is also the incoming Chairman for Senate Committee on Urban Planning, Housing and Resettlement, also attended the event.
