President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and his fellow leaders from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) formally concluded their participation in the 25th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) through a closing program at the Intercontinental Da Nang Resort in Da Nang City, Vietnam.

This year’s APEC host and chair, President Tran Dai Quang of Vietnam, delivered his closing remarks and handed over the APEC Chairmanship to Papua New Guinea led by its Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.

The 25th APEC worked on the theme, ‘Creating New Dynamism, Fostering A Shared Future’ and focused on four priorities – promoting sustainable, innovative and inclusive growth; deepening regional economic integration; strengthening MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises) competitiveness and innovation in the digital age; and, enhancing food security and sustainable agriculture in response to climate change.

Throughout his participation, President Duterte emphasized that economic growth and development must be equally shared by all, and pushed for more inclusiveness, regional integration, competition, cooperation and cohesiveness amongst the APEC Member Economies.
