President Benigno S. Aquino III attended the ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting with the representatives of ASEAN Youth at the Myanmar International Convention Center 1.

In his statement, President Aquino began by quoting Dr. Jose P. Rizal’s famous words “the youth are the fair hope of the motherland,” wherein he emphasized the capability of the youth to achieve their full potential and the role of the government in equipping them with their needs in this fast changing world, considering that they will inherit the nation being built today.
The President expressed the programs being implemented by the government, such as the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) and fundamental reforms on the basic education system that was expanded to K to 12.

Moreover, President Aquino encouraged the youth representatives to partner with fellow youth leaders, as well as with the leaders of their country, in keeping with the agenda for the formation of an inclusive ASEAN Community. He asked them to remain active among their spheres in promoting an appreciation of the need for individual integrity, responsibility, and solidarity with our countrymen and neighbors.
