The ten leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), including President Benigno S. Aquino III, met with the members of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (BAC) before the 25th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits officially came to a close.

The ASEAN BAC was formed during the 7th ASEAN Summit following the decision of the ASEAN leaders and launched on April 2003. Its mandate is to provide private sector feedback and guidance on the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Cooperation in order to identify priority areas for consideration of the leaders and boost the region’s efforts towards economic integration.

The ASEAN BAC members are appointed by the Ministers in-charge and composed of high-level CEOs of companies from each member country. Each country is represented by a maximum of three members, with one of them representing the interest of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).
