President Rodrigo Roa Duterte convened with his fellow leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the representatives of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) for an interface meeting via teleconferencing held at the Malacañang Golf (MALAGO) Clubhouse in Malacañang, Manila.
AIPA acts as the center of communication and information among the Member Parliaments that include Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. It plays an integral role in ensuring that regional agreements and policies are being carried out for the realization of the ASEAN vision.
The ASEAN Leaders’ interface meeting with the AIPA representatives is a high-level dialogue that aims to enhance cooperation between AIPA and ASEAN, and serves as an avenue where the legislative and executive bodies can exchange information on recent developments in the ASEAN at all levels.
