President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. convened alongside other Leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for a meeting with the representatives of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) at the Meruorah Komodo Convention Center in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia.

This year’s ASEAN Summit Chair, President Joko Widodo, opened the Session where he highlighted AIPA’s crucial role in ASEAN in creating policies to address the critical situations in the region, such as the global health pandemic, and in creating policies to support the ASEAN Agenda 2045.

“ASEAN must be more responsive and resilient in facing the challenges so that we can become the epicenter of growth and in order to become a region that is stable and democratic,” President Widodo said in his opening statement.

Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Enrique Manalo, together with House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez as AIPA Head of Delegation of the Philippines and Zamboanga del Norte 2nd District Representative Glona Labadlabad, accompanied President Marcos Jr.

AIPA is a regional intergovernmental organization serving as the parliamentary body of ASEAN that promotes cooperation and economic integration among its 10 Member States in Southeast Asia.
