President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed confidence on the positive results following his inaugural participation to the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland in his arrival statement at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.

“The trip has yielded beneficial outcomes relative to new trade and investment opportunities, and key partnerships forged to support our development program, better appreciation for Filipino workers and professionals, and the promise of increased levels of cooperation with various countries around the world,” the President said, summing up his five-day trip.

He also shared that an interactive discussion and consultation was held concerning the Philippines’ sovereign wealth fund or the Maharlika Fund.

“I took the opportunity to as well to consult with our friends and partners in Davos on the sovereign wealth fund as a means for us to diversify our income sources…and that discussion of about the sovereign wealth fund, the Maharlika Fund, was an interactive one, wherein not only did we present our ideas on what the fund would look like, but we ask them what do you think would be most advantageous for the Philippines,” President Marcos Jr. said.

With the theme, ‘Cooperation in a Fragmented World’, the annual gathering was attended by global leaders from government, business, academe and civil society to address the state of the world and find solutions to the most pressing problems through public-private cooperation.
