Prime Minister Petr Fiala of the Czech Republic commences his three-day Official Visit to the Philippines as he arrives at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City on April 16, 2023.

Welcoming the Prime Minister upon his arrival are Department of National Defense (DND) Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Senior Undersecretary Carlito Galvez Jr., Ambassador Eduardo Martin Meñez of the Embassy of the Philippines in Prague and Ambassador Jana Sediva of the Czech Republic to the Philippines.

Together with his delegation, Prime Minister Fiala is set to hold a bilateral meeting with President Ferdinand R. These include matters on defense, trade and investment, university linkages, judicial and labor cooperation, among others.

In a press release by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the visit ‘serves as an important milestone’ in relations between the Philippines and Czech Republic as both nations will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this October 5th.

President Marcos Jr. and Prime Minister Fiala previously met at the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) – European Union (EU) Commemorative Summit in Brussels, Belgium last December 2022.
