President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, together with the members of his delegation, arrived early morning in Haneda Airport onboard a Philippine Airlines charted flight for his Official Visit in Tokyo, Japan.
In his two-day visit, the President is scheduled to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and other high-ranking government officials, as well as witness the signing of the letters of intent (LOI) between Philippine officials and Japanese businessmen.
The President will also hold an audience with His Majesty Emperor Akihito at the royal residence, the Imperial Palace, before the latter abdicates from the throne in 2018.
President Duterte is the first Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) leader to hold an official visit to the Japanese Prime Minister after he was re-elected for the third time.
