President Benigno S. Aquino III arrived at Fiumicino Airport in Rome, Italy around 6:20 in the evening straight from his participation to the 2015 Paris Climate Conference or the Conference of Parties (COP21) in France.
Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo Nolasco and Philippine Ambassador to the Holy See Mercedes Arrastia-Tuason welcomed the President and the Philippine delegation. From the Italian side, Deputy Chief of the Diplomatic Protocol of the Republic of Italy Ambassador Stefano Zanini received President Aquino at the tarmac.
At Rome Cavalieri where he would be staying, Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz, Philippine Embassy to Rome Minister and Consul General Leila Lora-Santos and Rome Cavalieri Front of House Quality Manager Cav. Umberto Giraudo welcomed the President and his delegation. Philippine Embassy and consulate officials including staff of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Milan were also present.
President Aquino is on a three-day official visit to Italy and a one-day formal visit to the Holy See where he is scheduled to have a private audience with Pope Francis before he goes back to Manila on the 4th of December.
