Brussels International Airport

From Madrid, Spain, President Benigno S. Aquino III headed to Brussels for a two-day Working Visit to the European Union and the Kingdom of Belgium.  This is his first visit to the nation and it coincides with the 50th anniversary of Philippines-European Union relations that was established on 12 May 1964.

On board Philippine Airlines flight PR001, the Chief Executive and the rest of the delegation arrived at the Brussels International Airport at 2:51 pm.

He was welcomed by Philippine embassy officials led by Ambassador Victoria S. Bataclan.  On the Belgian side, he was greeted by Ambassador Carl Peeters, acting chief of protocol of the Belgian Foreign Ministry.

From the airport, President Aquino proceeded to the European Commission (EC) Headquarters for a meeting with President Jose Manuel Barroso.
