President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. warmly welcomed Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of the Commonwealth of Australia to the Malacañan Palace as the latter commenced his first Official Visit to the Philippines from September 7-8, 2023.

The visit of Prime Minister Albanese is the first of an Australian leader since 2003 and highlights the longstanding bilateral relationship and diplomatic ties between the Philippines and Australia for over 75 years.

During their meeting, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Prime Minister Albanese exchanged views on further strengthening the two nations’ priority areas of cooperation such as defense and security, trade, economic and maritime cooperation, among others.

The Chief Executive underscored that this visit is significant in maintaining the strategic partnership between the Philippines and Australia, anchored in the shared commitment to peace, security and development throughout the region.
