President Benigno S. Aquino III arrived past two in the morning at the NAIA Terminal II in Pasay City after joining other leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the 27th ASEAN Summit held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In his speech, President Aquino said that the ASEAN Community and the ASEAN Vision 2025 were launched after a series of discussions with ASEAN dialogue partners such as China, Japan, Korea, United States of America (USA), India, Australia, New Zealand and the United Nations.
ASEAN Community and ASEAN Vision 2025 outline the direction that the region will undertake in the coming years in the aspects concerning security, economy and societal.
The Chief Executive explained that during the summit, most fellow ASEAN members and dialogue partners were convinced that there should be a Code on Conduct in resolving the tensions in the West Philippine Sea. He likewise took the opportunity to thank and bid his fellow ASEAN leaders goodbye as it was his last participation at the summit.
