NAIA Terminal II, Pasay City
5 Decmber 2015
President Benigno S. Aquino III arrived past 12 noon at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal II after his visit to France, Italy and the Holy See.
In France, the President participated at the 21st Conference of Parties (COP21) on Climate Change where he presented the Philippines’ stand that there is an urgent need for an extensive and fair solution on the issue of climate change. Likewise, he led the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) High Level Event together with other leaders from the participating countries.
In his arrival speech, President Aquino explained the positive results of the forum. He said that France and Germany are now in support of the CVF’s position that global temperature should not increase to 1.5 degrees. This, he said, is part of the Philippines’ call to help countries that are more vulnerable in the aspect of climate financing and technology in order for these nations, including the Philippines, to be able to contribute more in resolving the issues on climate change.
Aside from participating at the fora, President Aquino conducted meetings with top executives of big corporations in France such as Sanofi Pasteur, Airbus, CRH France and Jacobi Carbons. He also visited the facilities of Usine IO.
In Italy, President Aquino met with President Sergio Mattarella who expressed his support on the peace process in Mindanao and in the issue of the West Philippine Sea. The Italian leader, according to the President, likewise expressed his admiration to the contributions of Filipinos in Italy in various sectors.
In his last day in Italy, President Aquino met with Pope Francis at the Vatican City.
Before heading back to Manila, the President inaugurated a mosaic image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia which is one of the 14 images of the Blessed Mother located at the Vatican Gardens.
