President Benigno S. Aquino III and his lean delegation arrived at Vladivostok (Knevichi) International Airport past nine o’clock in the evening (6:00 PM, Manila time) onboard a Philippine Airlines chartered flight from Manila to participate in the 20th Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Russky Island.
The President’s delegation includes Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario, Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Energy Secretary Jose Rene Almendras, Trade and Industry Gregory Domingo, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan and Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda.
Russian Director of the State Protocol Department Yury Phylatov led the welcoming party for President Aquino at the airport together with Philippine Ambassador to Russia Alejandro Mosquera and Consul General Yuri Kostyukov.
Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for International Economic Relations Laura del Rosario, Philippine Embassy officials and Golden Ring Company director Valeriy Chizhikov were among those who received President Aquino in the Building 3 lobby of the Far Eastern Federal University.
The President will join the rest of the 20 heads of state and government in the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting on September 8 and 9.
He is set to hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of Singapore, Chile, Vietnam and Malaysia in the sidelines of the summit.
