The Philippines gears up in hosting the 23rd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) and more than twenty other related meetings in 2015 with the unveiling of the official APEC 2015 logo and theme: “Building Inclusive Economies, Building a Better World” during the national launching ceremony on 1 December 2014 in Makati City.
The country held the Informal Senior Officials’ Meeting (ISOM) in Makati City from 8-9 December 2014 with a discussion among delegates of member economies on relevant issues related to the hosting such as themes, sub-themes and priorities, and in preparation for the 1st Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM1), which will be held from January to February next year.
From then on, APEC-ministerial meetings on trade, finance, transportation, fiscal inclusion and disaster management, among others, will be held for the entire year in different locations around the country until November 2015 where world leaders from 21 APEC member economies will participate in the APEC Ministerial Meeting, APEC CEO Summit and APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting.
Four APEC priorities will be tackled focusing on the following: investing in human capital development, fostering SMEs’ participation in regional and global economy, building sustainable and resilient communities, and enhancing the regional economic integration agenda.
PBS-RTVM serves as the Host Broadcast for the entire APEC-related meetings and events until the Philippines transfers the APEC Chairmanship to Peru in November 2016.
