Ariyana Da Nang Exhibition and Convention Centre
November 9, 2017
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte delivered a keynote address in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit Session 7 at the Ariyana Da Nang Exhibition and Convention Centre in Da Nang City, Vietnam.
The President tackled the “Regional Economic Integration – Lessons Learnt from ASEAN” as the Philippines chairs the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Manila this November.
In his speech, President Duterte cited that in just 50 years, ASEAN has emerged as an economic powerhouse in the world, and that a bright future still lies ahead for the regional bloc.
He added that APEC can be instrumental in promoting regional integration, and emphasized that the APEC CEOs are in a unique position to integrate the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by unleashing their potentials.
The President believes that APEC will only be relevant if economic development is shared by all, thus he would be pushing for more integration, competition, cooperation and cohesiveness when he chairs the ASEAN Summit next week.
After his message, the President engaged in a Question and Answer segment that was moderated by Mr. Tomas Alcantara of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Philippines.
