President Rodrigo Roa Duterte gave an address before the Philippine Economic Forum held at the Convention Hall of Prince Park Tower Tokyo Hotel in Japan.

These economic development thrusts, he explained, are significant in nurturing the lives of the Filipino people, and that the Philippines is now open for more investors from Japan.
“At present, we are putting in place policies aimed at ensuring stability in the macro-economic policies, increasing competitiveness, improving ease of doing business, increasing spending in crucial infrastructure and investing further in the human capital development,” he said.
President Duterte expressed the Philippine government’s appreciation for Japan’s role in the peacebuilding efforts in Mindanao that is geared towards the attainment of a more peaceful life in the country and putting an end to poverty.
He pointed out that the country has to decentralize growth by way of developing the agriculture sector specifically in rural areas that are more dependent to crop growing and food production. He said that Japan has the capability to be a reliable partner of the Philippines for this objective because of its resources and expertise.
