President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is set to hold the second leg of his inaugural overseas trip with a State Visit to the Republic of Singapore upon the invitation of President Halimah Yacob on September 6-7, 2022.
Among the highlights of his visit are his call with President Halimah Yacob and bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, with whom he will witness the signing of several bilateral agreements on various areas of concern, particularly on counter terrorism and personal data privacy.
The President and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos will also be honored in an orchid naming ceremony bearing their names as a gesture of Singapore’s friendship and goodwill given to visiting heads of state.
With Singapore being the Philippines’ leading foreign investor in 2021 and ranking 6th as its largest trading partner, the Chief Executive, together with his Economic Team, will hold an economic briefing and a roundtable meeting with the Singapore business community.
President Marcos Jr. is also set to meet with the Filipino community in Singapore as a gesture of his gratitude for garnering 70% of the total votes cast and to assure the 200,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) of the government’s commitment to protect their rights and promote their welfare.
