President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. presided over the 9th National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board Meeting at the State Dining Room in Malacañan Palace.
First on the meeting’s agenda was the endorsement of the draft Executive Order (EO) that modifies the rates of Import Duty on Natural Gypsum and Anhydrite. The EO called for the modification of rates of duty of natural gypsum and anhydrite from 3.0 to 0 percent. According to Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual, the proposed action is anchored in revitalizing the construction sector and enhancing the value chain options for the local domestic plasterboard industry.
Thereafter, the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) called for the approval of the EO that expedites the processing of licenses, clearance, permits, certifications of NEDA Board-approved Infrastructure Flagship Projects (IFPs) while the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) discussed the draft policy note on the updated framework for the National Government–Local Government Units (NG-LGUs) Sharing Costs and Responsibilities for Local Infrastructure Projects.
The Board also discussed the possible inclusion of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in NEDA’s Infrastructure and Utilities Development Committee (InfraCom).
