State Dining Room, Malacañan Palace
August 23, 2023

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the 8th National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board meeting at the State Dining Room in Malacañan Palace.

First on the meeting’s agenda was the provision of six (6) units of fire trucks for Marawi City through a grant from the People’s Republic of China. The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) presented an overview of the project, stating that it aims to contribute to the rehabilitation and recovery from the impact of the Marawi City siege, particularly in the rehabilitation of the City’s fire station that was damaged, as well as its equipment. The six (6) fire trucks to be acquired will replace those that were destroyed by the siege and strengthen the capacity of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in fire prevention, fire safety education, suppression and in disaster response.

Thereafter, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) talked about its requests for the flood risk management project of the Cagayan de Oro River. The project involves the implementation of structural and non-structural measures to reduce flooding in high-risk flood-prone areas, develop the Cagayan de Oro River, and strengthen the resilience of communities to climate change and hydro-meteorological hazards.

Meanwhile, the NEDA Infrastructure and Utilities Development Committee (InfraCom) discussed the revised guidelines for the formulation, prioritization and monitoring of the government’s infrastructure flagship projects (IFPs) and additional projects for inclusion in the IFPs list, as well as a progress report on the IFPs under the Build Better More Program for the second quarter of 2023.

President Marcos Jr., as the NEDA Board Chair, confirmed the approval of the requests outlined in the abovementioned agenda.
