President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. recognized the vital role and rendered his highest salute to the officers and personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for their hard work and sacrifices in keeping the country’s peace and security for the past eight (8) decades.
During his attendance to the AFP’s 87th Anniversary in Camp Aguinaldo, President Marcos Jr. underscored the Armed Forces as one of the pillars of national security. From their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic to fighting communist terrorists and assisting in natural disasters, the Commander in Chief expressed his utmost gratitude for their committed service to the Philippines.
“We commit to the cause of peace. The security and stability of the country remains a priority. I call on you to continue performing your duties completely so our country can achieve peace and security, and sustain economic prosperity,” the President remarked.
Recognizing the AFP’s unwavering loyalty and service to the country, President Marcos Jr. reiterated that the AFP modernization remains one of the government’s priorities and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment in upholding the AFP’s transformation and advancement towards a more capable military organization in the service of the Filipino people.
“Hindi lingid sa aking kaalaman ang sakripisyo ng ating hukbo at ang panganib na kanilang hinaharap sa tawag ng tungkulin. Kaya naman bukod sa kagamitan, patuloy nating susuportahan ang kanilang pangangailangan,” he said.
Bearing the theme, “AFP @87: Kaisa ng Buong Sambayanan Tungo sa Mapayapa, Matatag at Maunlad na Pilipinas”, this year’s anniversary celebration aims to showcase and highlight the Armed Forces’ ‘transformation and advancement as a military organization through the display of assets’. Different activities have been organized nationwide to honor the decades-long service of the AFP to the country. These include bloodletting programs, tree-planting events and free museum visits in military camps, among other activities.
