President Benigno S. Aquino III served as the keynote speaker in the 7th General Assembly of the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) that was attended by governors and house representatives at the Century Park Hotel in the city of Manila.
In his message, the President reiterated his administration’s various reforms that resulted to the country’s economic growth, the fastest in four decades. In infrastructure alone, he cited that more than 18,000 kilometers of national roads have been built, as well as 1,500 tourism roads and 107,000 lineal meters of bridges.
He mentioned the close partnership of the national government with the local government units (LGUs) in the proper spending of the country’s budget, and in providing social services to the poorest Filipinos through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) and the Bottom-Up Budgeting (BuB) program.
President Aquino emphasized that the country is undoubtedly in a better state when he leaves office this June, and called on the attendees to continue implementing good governance programs for the nation’s further progress.
