President Benigno S. Aquino III graced the celebration of the 75th Founding Anniversary of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), where he laid down the reforms being implemented by the current leadership of GSIS. These include the provision of additional 500 GSIS Wireless Automated Processing Systems (GWAPS) kiosks all over the country and the improved partnership with Landbank as government service bank.
The President said that with the ATM machines of Landbank and Union Bank of the Philippines, GSIS members can now easily get their benefits and loans anywhere in the country. More deceased members’ qualified survivors will now also receive their survivor benefits.
Moreover, President Aquino stated that the government is fully supported of the agreement between GSIS, Department of Budget and Management (DBM) , and Department of Education (DepEd) to settle the government share of DepEd in premium arrearages of nearly 800,000 teachers.
The President then received a souvenir frame from GSIS which contains stamps and first day cover issued by the Philippine Postal Corporation, and a nickel brass alloy medal.
