President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. presided over the 5th National Innovation Council Meeting at the State Dining Room in Malacañan Palace.
The agenda included the National Innovation Agenda and Strategy Document (NIASD) that details the country’s 10-year vision, long-term goals and strategies for improving innovation governance on innovation priority areas deemed important by the National Innovation Council (NIC).
These include Learning and Education; Health and Well-Being; Food and Agribusiness; Finance; Manufacturing and Trade; Transportation and Logistics; Public Administration; Security and Defense; Energy; Blue Economy and Water.
Innovation is at the heart of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028 where the NIC aspires to aid in deepening and accelerating innovation efforts, including inclusive innovation programs that target the poorest of the poor. It also aims to integrate and foster public-private partnerships (PPPs), including those with large businesses; micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs); academe; and RD&E (research, development and engineering) institutions.
