President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. presided over the 4th National Innovation Council (NIC) meeting at the State Dining Room in Malacañan Palace.

The meeting agenda included the salient features and updates on the implementation of the Philippine Innovation Act of 2019, selection of seven (7) Executive Members of the NIC 2023-2026 and approval of the official NIC logo, among others.

Created on April 17, 2019 through Republic Act (RA) No. 11293 or the ‘Philippine Innovation Act’, the NIC is a 25-member policy advisory group that serves as the Philippines’ policy making body on innovation. It is tasked to set the direction of the country’s innovation goals, priorities and long-term national strategies through the formulation of the National Innovation Agenda and Strategy Document (NIASD).

The President serves as the NIC Chairperson together with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary as Vice Chairperson. The rest of the members are composed of 16 Department Secretaries and seven (7) Executive Members from the private sector.
