As Super Typhoon Ruby confronts the country this Christmas season, President Benigno S. Aquino III reminded all Bulong Pulungan members present to demonstrate goodwill and good cheer, when he graced its 28th Annual Christmas Party held in Pasay City.
In his speech, President Aquino expressed his hopes that the media in their responsible and sober writing, will foster confidence that the Filipino people need in weathering Super Typhoon Ruby.
“Yesterday’s NDRRMC briefing reminded everyone, from those of us in government, to our partners in the private sector, and even our friends in media, that we must do our utmost, leave nothing to chance, improve where we can, and match what we have done so well in the past,” he said.
Prior to his keynote address, the President was handed the first cheque amounting to P250,000 as assistance to Super Typhoon Ruby from the Bulong Pulungan members and the Manila Bulletin.
For this year’s celebration, President Aquino received the “Most Outstanding Exemplar Award – Boss’ Favorite” for his leadership that led to various programs and reforms for good governance and the growth of the country’s economy.
Bulong Pulungan was organized in 1986 by a group of women journalists aiming to convene media members to discuss national issues.
