President Benigno S. Aquino III inaugurated the newest electronic information (e-info) programs of the Philippine Information Agency as he graced the celebration of its 25th Foundation year.
The President launched the new PIA website and the agency’s Text Blast program or Information Textboard, which will provide relevant information and stories to people through more accessible forms.
In his speech, President Aquino cited the important role PIA plays in information gathering and news dissemination for the benefit of the Filipino people.
“Talaga naman pong nasa frontline ang PIA sa paghahayag sa publiko na tinutupad ng ating administrasyon ang panata nito sa bayan: ang pananagutan sa katungkulan at ang pagtataguyod sa kapakanan ng nakararami bago ang sarili,” he said.
He also expressed his hope that PIA will continue to be a partner in advocating truth and giving out accurate information to the public.
“Iyan po ang palagay kong buod ng inyong mandato, hindi ho magpa-pogi kanino man ngunit tulungan na mabigyan ng kakayahan at kapangyarihan ang ating mamamayan maka-desisyon ng tama sa lahat ng panahon.” the President added.
The President also toured the PIA Art Gallery and witnessed the formal turnover of the symbolic discs by Director General Jose Fabia to Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office (PCDSPO) Undersecretary Manolo Quezon III. The discs contain PIA’s multimedia collection of speeches, recordings, documentaries of President Aquino as well as former Presidents of the Philippines.
